New Delhi, September 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has gone in full poll gear in Jharkhand ahead of the Election Commission’s announcement of the election dates. The BJP’s poll plank largely hinges on narrative against infiltrators in Jharkhand.
The BJP’s top campaigners in Jharkhand are raising claims of “land Jihad” while promising a national register for citizens. The BJP president JP Nadda, Union Minister for Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Ministers of Assam and Madhya Pradesh Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mohan Yadav respectively are raising the poll plank of infiltrators in Jharkhand.

Chauhan in a public meeting said: “Ever since the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) government came, it has looted water, sandalwood, and land.”
Chauhan, who is the BJP’s poll in-charge of Jharkhand claimed that “this is not the government of Mukti Morcha, this is the government of infiltrators”. He alleged that the land of tribal is being usurped with infiltrators who are making Adhar card with fake documents.
“We will bring the National Register for the Citizens (NRC) so that the infiltrators cannot make Aadhar cards,” added Chauhan. The main poll plank of the BJP is being repeated by the likes of Sarma, Yadav, Nadda, and others.
“The infiltrators are marrying the tribal girls. This ongoing love jihad is now land jihad. They are grabbing land of tribal,” claimed Thakur in one of the public meetings.

The BJP’s sharp focus against the alleged Bangladeshi infiltrators in Jharkhand has invited strong protest from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the neighbouring country. In a protest submission with the Indian embassy in Dhaka, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has called for restraining the Union Ministers and the BJP leaders from making “allegations against Bangladesh in Jharkhand”.
The BJP has launched a ‘parivartan yatra’ in Jharkhand ahead of the poll date announcement. The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has also launched a ‘Maai Samman Yatra’ in the state.
“Under this government, love jihad and money jihad go on. In love jihad, there is a change in the population. And the land is being snatched away. Taking advantage of the tribal women, they get swayed by their talks and then marry them and the land becomes theirs,” said Thakur at a public meeting.

The BJP is claiming that the tribal population in Jharkhand “has now come down to just 28 per cent”. “The identity of the tribal in Jharkhand is now in danger,” said Nadda at a public meeting.
