BJP lampoons Nitish Kumar for ‘gandi baat’; Ally RJD relishes Bihar CM’s black swan moment

New Delhi, November 8: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s penchant to educate his audiences as he dished out graphic description of sex acts of newly-weds has brought an avalanche of opprobrium with Prime Minister Narendra Modi claiming that the JD (U) leader has brought an international loss of face for the country. While the BJP has heaped a no-hold-barred attack on Kumar for his ‘gandi baat’ in the state Assembly, the ally Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) also appears to be relishing the black swan moment in the stock of the chief minister.
“No one can imagine the language in which he spoke of dirty things in the Assembly where the women members were also present while none of the leaders have condemned him…what misfortune is of the country…how low you would fall to…defaming the country on the world stage,” Modi said on the Nitish Kumar episode without taking his name during a speech in an election rally in Madhya Pradesh.
Kumar during his reply on a discussion on the socio-economic data captured during the caste survey had given graphic descriptions of the newly-weds sexual acts while claiming that the educated women are able to reduce the birth rates. He was explaining Bihar’s birth rate coming down from a high of 4.9 per cent to 2.9 per cent and even lower now.
After a day-long hauling over coal by his rival and the people on the social media, the chief minister apologised for his mistakes with folded hands. But Kumar’s stock had crashed in a scale that draws parallel to black swan moment and the ally RJD wasn’t complaining. While deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav had yesterday trashed claims that his boss had hurt the sentiments of women, his mother, Rabri Yadav, the former chief minister of the state, today acknowledged that Kumar indeed had committed a mistake. She said while the chief minister committed a mistake during discussion in the Assembly, but he had apologised. Devi’s statement assumed significance because the RJD has been a victim of Kumar’s penchant for unpredictable decisions.
Also, the BJP by unleashing full force to haul Kumar over coal for his ‘gandi baat’ in the Assembly, the RJD is drawing confidence that the chief minister may possibly not leave them stunned to join the NDA on the eve of the Lok Sabha elections.
