NEW DELHI, September 23, 2025 — Bihar’s rich cultural heritage has taken center stage at the 7th edition of the Prime Minister’s Mementos e-Auction, with 40 unique folk art items from the state now open for bidding. Organized by the Ministry of Culture through the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Delhi, the auction runs until October 2, 2025, with proceeds directed towards the Namami Gange Project.

The Bihar collection features some of the state’s most celebrated traditional art forms, including Madhubani paintings, Mithila artworks, and Sikki craft. Highlights include:

  • Madhubani Painting of Lord Krishna and Gopis – a vibrant depiction of Krishna’s divine love, showcasing bold lines, natural colors, and intricate detailing from the Mithila region.
  • Mithila Painting of a Woman with Lotus and Shiva Lingam – a symbolic artwork rooted in devotion and mythology, framed to preserve its intricate patterns and vibrant hues.
  • Sikki Art Frame of Lord Ram and Sita – a delicate golden-hued depiction of the divine couple, presented earlier to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Beyond these pieces, the Bihar showcase also includes folk art representing rituals, festivals, and community traditions, reflecting the living heritage of Mithila and surrounding regions.

Launched in 2019, the PM Mementos e-Auction allows citizens to bid on gifts presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including folk crafts, sports memorabilia, and cultural artifacts. Over the years, the initiative has attracted thousands of participants, turning personal mementos into public treasures while supporting a national cause.

This year’s Bihar collection not only celebrates centuries-old artistry but also offers collectors and art lovers an opportunity to own rare cultural gems that embody India’s enduring traditions.

All items are available for public viewing at NGMA, New Delhi, and online bidding at pmmementos.gov.in.
