Bihar Elections 2025: Nitish Kumar Storm Blows up MGB

Powered with record voters’ turnout of 67 percent in the Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP and the JD (U) are set for an unprecedented 80 percent strike rates in winning seats.

New Delhi, November 14, 2025 — Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is on course to win his fifth straight mandate. The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is cruising for an unprecedented victory in Bihar.

With trends firming up the NDA landslide is emerging in Bihar. The NDA per latest trends is leading on 186 Assembly seats, eclipsing the Mahagathbandhan (MGB). The Tejashwi Yada-led MGB is leading on just 50 Assembly seats.

The performance of the MGB is set to be worst in the entire electoral history of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Powered with record voters’ turnout of 67 percent in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (United) are set for an unprecedented 80 percent strike rates in winning elections.

Erasing the memory of the 2020 Assembly elections, the JD (U) and the BJP are leading from almost equal number of seats. In 2020, the JD (U) had crashed to just 43 Assembly seats after the verdict. The BJP is leading from 80 seats.

Trends show that the BJP and the JD (U) also powered the small alliance partners within the NDA to cruise for landslide victory. Contesting 29 Assembly seats, the LJP (Ram Vilas) is on course to win 22 constituencies.

Within the MGB, the trends show that the RJD is leading the constituents into a major electoral disaster. The Congress seems further losing grounds in Bihar, with trends showing the party leading on just 10 seats.

If the trends prevail, Nitish Kumar will win his fifth straight mandate in Bihar. He became Chief Minister in Bihar in 2005 after the NDA routed the RJD. Afterwards, he contested the 2015 elections in an alliance with the RJD to defeat the BJP.
