Bihar Elections 2025: Nitish Kumar Gains Opposition Spotlight

Speculations run rife in the state about the strained relations between the Chief Minister and the BJP.

Patna, November 3, 2025 — Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar continues to hog the limelight in the Opposition campaigns in the Assembly elections. The spotlight remains on relations of the incumbent Chief Minister with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) even while the electioneering for the first phase of the polling nears climax.

“Today, the government of Bihar is not being run by Nitish ji. He is not even being allowed to run it. The government of Bihar is being run from the Center,” said Priyanka Gndhi Vadra, while addressing an election rally in Bihar on Monday. She further claimed that “all the major decisions are being made by the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and the Home Minister (Amit Shah). Today, even the Chief Minister of Bihar does not have his own respect.” “When every decision will be made from the Center, and even the Chief Minister’s voice will not be heard, then what will happen to the voice of the people,” asked Vadra.

The Chief Minister’s absence from the rallies of Modi is also inviting attention of the political observers. Even while Shah in a public meeting claimed that “there is no vacancy of the CM post in Patna,” the speculations run rife in the state about the strained relations between the Chief Minister and the BJP.

The Opposition’s CM face and leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Tejashwi Yadav is also regularly raising the issue of the alleged strained relations of the Chief Minister with the BJP. While Shah is amplifying his high-octane narrative on “Ghuspaithye (illegal immigrants),” the CM is seen paying least attention to the BJP’s key poll agenda in the state.
