NEW DELHI, July 13, 2025 — A Beech B200 Super King Air passenger aircraft crashed at London Southend Airport in Essex on Sunday afternoon, triggering a major fireball and thick plumes of smoke visible from nearby residential areas. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00 pm, London Time, shortly after the aircraft reportedly took off en route to Lelystad, Netherlands.

According to Flightradar24 data, the aircraft involved is registered as PH-ZAZ, operated by Zeusch Aviation, and was flying under the callsign SUZ1. The twin-turboprop jet, capable of carrying up to 13 passengers and two crew members, is believed to have crashed shortly after departure or during the departure phase.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, including Essex Police, ambulance crews, and fire responders. As of now, the number of casualties or injuries remains unconfirmed.

Witnesses near the airport described scenes of panic and disbelief. “I saw the huge fireball from my window. I’m still shaking like mad,” said Dani Hill, a local resident, was quoted by Aviation Source in its report. “I’ve never seen anything like it. Praying all involved are ok,” he added.

Video footage shared online shows a towering column of black smoke rising from one side of the airfield, as emergency crews responded to the wreckage.

Aviation Source confirmed that PH-ZAZ was conducting a private flight to the Netherlands. The exact cause of the crash is not yet known, and authorities are expected to begin a detailed investigation into the incident, with input from the UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).

London Southend Airport, located approximately 36 miles east of central London, has not yet issued an official statement. Flight operations are expected to be affected as investigations continue and the crash site is secured.

David Burton-Sampson, the Member of Parliament for Southend West and Leigh has said the following: “I am aware of an incident at Southend Airport.” “Please keep away and allow the emergency services to do their work,” he said, adding: “My thoughts are with everyone involved.”

Essex Police have released a statement following the accident: “We were alerted shortly before 4pm to reports of a collision involving one 12-metre plane. We are working with all emergency services at the scene now and that work will be ongoing for several hours. We would please ask the public to avoid this area where possible while this work continues.”

This mishap comes close on heels of an Air India plane crashing in Ahmedabad soon after takeoff. Preliminary probe report has highlighted possible fuel disruptions for possible reason for the crash.
