The Bangladeshi foreign ministry termed the Indian media’s commentaries on violence in Bangladesh and targeting of the minority Hindus as “exaggerated”. “Hon’ble advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Interim Government’s commitment to ensure peaceful coexistence of different communities in Bangladesh including the minorities,” said the statement issued by the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement listed the priorities in the bilateral relations with India with thrust on “Teesta water sharing, stop killing on border, and supply of essential commodities”. Hossain stressed that the Interim Government in Bangladesh is currently focusing on maintaining the law-and-order situation and bring the economy on the track.
“Bangladesh witnessed a second revolution last week through a mass uprising spearheaded by valiant students. The combined forces of the students and the people have emerged victorious against the forces of authoritarianism and repression in their quests for ending discriminations and inequities,” said the statement issued by the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
