Arvind Kejriwal announced intent to resign as Delhi’s chief minister

New Delhi, September 15: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a surprise announcement today that he will resign from his official post in two days. He was imprisoned in Tihar Jail for five months.

After he first got bail from the Supreme Court in the ED case, the CBI arrested him. The Supreme Court granted bail to him in the CBI case also.

The apex court issued a bail order to release Arvind Kejriwal from Tihar Jail on a conditional basis. After that Arvind Kejriwal addressed his party workers.

He made the big statement on Sunday. In other words, he opened a political front and said that people should vote for him only when they consider him honest. And in this situation, he announced that he will resign from the post of Delhi Chief Minister.

Now speculation is rife on possible successor of Kejriwal. He did not leave the post of Chief Minister even during his jail term in the last five months.

When Hemant Soren, who was the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, was arrested by the ED, he resigned and Champai Soren was made his successor. After he got the bail from the Ranchi High Court, Hemant Soren eased out Champai from the post of the chief minister o Jharkhand.

While Hemant Soren became the Chief Minister, there was no such condition in his bail due to which he may have faced problem. Hemant Soren faced no restrictions in attending offices and signing papers unlike Kejriwal.

But if Kejriwal were to stay as the chief minister, he would have just been in the post for the namesake. During Arvind Kejriwal’s stay in Tihar Jail, flood situation was created in Old Rajendra Nagar area.

The basement of IAS coaching institute was filled with water and three IAS aspirants died there. Flood like situation was witnessed in Delhi and in the video released by the Minister of Delhi, it was seen that the working relationship that should exist between the officers of the Delhi Government and the ministers of perhaps were not present.

Vinai Saxena, who is the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, seems to have overtaken the elected Delhi Government by holding meetings with officials and taking decisions. Saxena had also sought to legitimize his hold in the Delhi government by writing an opinion piece in a daily in which he had ranted against the existing situations due to the jailing of Kejriwal.

Saxena is seen to be overpowering the elected government in Delhi. In such a situation, the elected government of Delhi is almost lame duck.

The officers allegedly don’t listen to ministers. They also allegedly do not come to meetings and even if the come they argue with the ministers and show least interests in following their directions.

The efficacy of the elected Delhi government is eroded. Now in such an environment, the Delhi assembly election is to be held next year. Delhi assembly election is to be held in 2025 and only a few months are left.

In the Delhi assembly election, the opposition will raise the issue of Delhi excise scam. The Delhi liquor scam will become a major issue in the assembly election.

Kejriwal sounded the bugle for the preparation of the upcoming assembly elections by making this announcement today. After coming out of Tihar Jail, Kejriwal said that he is feeling 100 times more energy now.

He feels that the time has come to make his political stature even bigger. He may not achieve his goal by confining to the political field of Delhi. He may not be able to become a national leader. So, it seems the time has come for him to take the leap to become a national leader.
