New Delhi, November 2: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has skipped the questioning by the Enforcement Directorate which had issued summon for him to appear today at 11.30 AM. Kejriwal has said that the summon was “vague and politically motivated”, and it was for the ED to clarify the grounds for which he had to appear before the investigative agency.

Kejriwal in a reply to the summon, sent to the ED today, has asked the investigative agency to clarify on three grounds – Is he being summoned as a witness or a suspect; the summon fails to provide details for the reasons for which has was summoned; and whether he was being summoned in an individual capacity or as the Chief Minister of Delhi or as the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Kejriwal is set to campaign in Madhya Pradesh today. Delhi CM had skipped an official function hosted by the lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena to celebrate the Dilli Diwas at Raj Bhavan yesterday.

Delhi CM has also cast aspersion on the motif of the ED, accusing the agency of acting at the behest of the ruling party at the Centre to ground him from campaigning in the five poll-bound states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram. “Even before the summon was issued to me, Manoj Tiwari, the BJP MP, was giving bytes to television that I would be arrested soon. The BJP leaders were talking of the ED action even before I received the summon,” Kejriwal further wrote in the letter to the ED.

Kejriwal also asserted that he is the star campaigner for his party and he is busy in the election campaign currently. “The summon was leaked to the BJP leader to malign my image,” charged the chief minister in the letter.

The Delhi chief minister also urged the ED to recall the summon, arguing that as the national convener of the AAP he has to guide the party workers in the elections in the states for which the Election Commission already announced the polling dates. He also stressed that being the chief minister of Delhi he has to address the issue of the governance.
