New Delhi, June 20: A Delhi court on Thursday granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise case. The Delhi court rejected the prayer of the Enforcement Directorate 48-hour time span to contest the bail to Kejriwal.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders are rejoicing the grant of the bail to the Delhi chief minister. Kejriwal had returned to the Tihar Jail on the evening of June 2.
His interim bail granted by the Supreme Court had expired on June 2. “The bail to Arvind Kejriwal will resonate all across the country,” said Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj.

The Rajya Sabha MP of the AAP Sanjay Singh also hailed the grant of the bail to Kejriwal. “This is a tight slap by the judiciary on the dirty conspiracy,” said Singh.
The AAP MP claimed that the dirty tricks of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been defeated. The AAP leader Durgesh Pathak said: “…truth can be troubled, but not defeated.”
In the course of the Lok Sabha elections, the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Kejriwal. The top AAP leader is the only chief minister in the country who held out to his official post despite going to jail.

Kejriwal is set to walk out of the Tihar Jail ahead of the inauguration of the 18th Lok Sabha. The Opposition is gearing up to wrestle with the BJP.
While the AAP could win just three Lok Sabha seats, all from Punjab, Kejriwal-led outfit drew a blank in the national capital. The BJP won all the seven Lok Sabha seats.
But Kejriwal had campaigned aggressively in Haryana after getting the interim bail. The BJP lost five Lok Sabha seats in Haryana.
Political observers are keeping a close watch on the Opposition strategy ahead of the upcoming parliament session. The Congress has been in the spotlight after the Lok Sabha elections.

Kejriwal may seek to amplify his charges against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Delhi chief minister had launched some of the most vicious attacks on Modi during the electioneering for the Lok Sabha polls.
Kejriwal had called Modi a dictator. He had also floated the idea that Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah could take the baton of the prime minister mid-way if the BJP were to win the Lok Sabha elections.
With Kejriwal out of the jail, the Opposition may find its most aggressive voice against the prime minister. Also, he could be a pivot for the non-Congress Opposition parties.
