‘If ₹100 Is Stolen, FIR Is Filed’: Kejriwal Questions Ram Temple Probe

New Delhi, June 25, 2026 — Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that he would visit Ayodhya, alleging a cover-up in the alleged misappropriation of donations and valuables offered at the Ram Temple and questioning why no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered despite reports of theft.

Addressing the media, Kejriwal said reports emerging from Ayodhya had deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of devotees. Referring to media reports about the alleged disappearance of cash, silver, garlands, ornaments and other offerings made by devotees at the temple, he described the matter as “extremely serious.”

“People offered these items to Lord Ram with deep faith and devotion. Reports suggest that cash worth hundreds of crores of rupees, silver and other valuables have gone missing. The sentiments of crores of Hindus have been hurt,” Kejriwal said.

The AAP leader announced that he would leave for Ayodhya and visit the Ram Mandir and Hanuman Garhi, where he plans to meet religious leaders and discuss the controversy in greater detail.

Kejriwal also questioned the legal basis of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the allegations. He argued that a proper criminal investigation cannot proceed without the registration of an FIR.

“If even ₹100 is stolen from an ordinary citizen, an FIR is registered. Here, allegations involve theft of donations worth crores of rupees, yet no FIR has been filed. I studied law and understand the legal process. Under the law, investigation follows the registration of an FIR,” he said.

He further alleged that the SIT was being used to shield influential individuals rather than uncover the truth. According to Kejriwal, reports indicate that the investigation has largely focused on lower-level employees while ignoring those who may have been responsible for authorising or facilitating the alleged irregularities.

“Such large-scale theft of donations, jewellery, silver and even religious artifacts could not have happened without the knowledge or protection of powerful people. The SIT appears to be an attempt to cover up the matter,” he alleged.

Kejriwal also hinted at additional controversies, including allegations relating to land transactions linked to the broader dispute, saying he would elaborate on those issues during his Ayodhya visit.
