New Delhi, July 16: Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah on Tuesday blowed the poll bugle for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Former Haryana chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, threw the gauntlet to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to give an account of the works done in the last 10 years in the state.
Shah addressed a convention of the BJP’s workers from the ranks of the other backward castes (OBCs) in Mahendragarh in Haryana. He joined the issue with Hooda on the challenge to give an account of the BJP-led government in Haryana.
“I read in the newspapers while coming here that Hooda Sahab is asking for accounts of the achievements of the BJP government in Haryana. He should give an account of the achievements of the Congress government when he had been the chief minister of the state for 10-year,” said Shah.

Hooda told reporters that Haryana, in the last 10 years, has become number one state in unemployment, price rise, poor law and order situations. “The BJP had announced that there will be a hospital in each district of the state. What happened to that, while the BJP government could not even upgrade the Kalpana Chawla hospital,” Hooda told reporters.
Shah claimed that Haryana received six times more central funds in the last 10 years against the record of the Congress-led government at the Centre. “Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi Shahab sent ₹2.59 lakh crore to Haryana in the last 10 years. The Congress government had sent just ₹41,000 crores in 10 years,” added Shah.
Shah also offered Hooda to debate with the state BJP youth president on the achievements during 10 years of the two governments. “I challenge Hooda to debate with our state youth party president to debate on the achievements by his government for 10 years and Manohar Lal government,” stated Shah.

Hooda told reporters that Haryana was a number one state also in sports. “But the youth of the state is staring at an uncertain future,” alleged Hooda.
Haryana is headed for Assembly elections later this year. The Congress staged a major comeback in the Haryana politics by winning five Lok Sabha seats.
The BJP tally in the Lok Sabha from Haryana came down from 10 to five Lok Sabha seats. Besides, the BJP gambit to contest the Lok Sabha elections on own also backfired.
