New Delhi, June 11: Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah is learnt to have taken full charge of the poll preparations of the Bharatiya Janata in the upcoming state Assembly elections. It has been reliably learnt that the poll related decisions will be taken by Shah, and he will be in command henceforth.

Informed sources said that the Karnataka poll debacle has been pinned down on senior functionaries working in different directions. Also, the informed sources said, that the Karnataka rout of the saffron outfit has clipped the wings of the BJP president JP Nadda.

The BJP president has delivered strings of electoral losses, on the home turf in Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka. “Shah has stepped in take full charge of the election-related affairs of the BJP. This has been done amid assessment that the BJP may not win even one state in the Assembly elections to be held later this year,” added the informed sources.

It has also been reliably learnt that Shah in consultation with senior party functionaries would begin appointing key leaders for the poll bound states as election in-charges. “Some of the announcements slated to take place in the course of June 12-15 will set the ball rolling for the BJP to rise up to the stiff electoral challenges in the state elections. The party leaders are awaiting the announcements with keen interests to know the stocks of some of the ministers who have been slotted as specialist for election responsibilities,” said a senior BJP functionary.

Incidentally, the stock of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has taken a serious beating after the Karnataka rout of the BJP where even the Brand Narendra Modi came to a naught in swinging the electoral mood in favour of the saffron outfit.

Informed sources said that the BJP election campaign strategy execution in Karnataka was marred by some of the top leaders of the party not working in unison. Also, “the BJP command structure was not found to be decisive, which is now being addressed by Shah taking full charge of the election-related affairs of the party”, said a highly placed source in the saffron outfit.

It may be recalled that Pradhan is also known in the BJP circle as Shah’s proxy, but even his appointment as the election in-charge of Karnataka didn’t yield any favourable result for the saffron outfit. Shah had held a strategy meeting with Nadda and the BJP national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh on Friday evening, which ended around midnight.
