By Raisina Correspondent

New Delhi, October 21: Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah has expressed concerns at the use of drones and artificial intelligence by terrorists. His remarks came a day after a major terror attack in Gagangeer in Jammu and Kashmir in which s even persons were killed.

“The central government almost eliminated terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir and north-eastern states and Naxalism from many states. But in view of the use of new technology by terrorists, the security forces will have to be ready to deal with the emerging challenge,” said Shah on Monday.

He was speaking at a function to commemorate the Police Memorial Day. He paid tribute to martyred security personnel on the occasion.

“Insurgency and Naxalism have almost ended from the country. But there are challenges for the internal security because terrorists are using new technology like artificial intelligence and drones,” stressed Shah.

The remarks of the minister assumed significance in the backdrop of the alleged use of drone in Manipur. There were claims that rockets were fired in the civilian areas in Manipur which triggered students’ protests in Imphal last month.

The security forces will have to be ready to deal with this challenge, said Shah. He said that three new criminal laws have been implemented to provide speedy justice to the people.

“Under these laws, people will get justice in three years and the number of pending cases in the judiciary will decrease. The work of making three new criminal laws was started five years ago and its implementation will be better in the coming three years,” noted Shah.

The Home Minister said that soon the Prime Minister will inaugurate the police unit in Chandigarh and after this the work of implementing the new criminal law will start in all the states.
