Ambala Youth Deported from Russia After Agent Scam

Energy Minister Anil Vij directs strict police action against agents scamming youth with promises to send them to Russia.

Chandigarh, November 9, 2025 —Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij has directed the police to take strict action against two agents who allegedly sent two youths from Ambala Cantt’s Defence Colony to Russia through illegal means.

Vij was redressing the grievances at his residence in Ambala Cantt., where he listened to complaints of the people from his constituency.

A complainant from Defence Colony stated that two agents from Panjokhra Sahib and Dayalbagh lured him with a promise to send him to Georgia and demanded ₹5 lakh. The complainant paid the amount, but instead of sending him to Georgia, he was sent to Mecca. Later, they illegally sent him to Russia on a tourist visa, where he was arrested by local authorities.

He was imprisoned for nearly two months before being deported back to India. He alleged that the agents cheated him of around ₹8.5 lakh.

Similarly, another youth also accused the same agents of illegal trafficking and fraud. He said that after reaching Russia, he did not receive the promised work permit. When he contacted the agents, they threatened him, and soon after, Russian police detained and deported him back to India. He claimed to have been cheated of approximately ₹9 lakh.

Taking serious note of both incidents, Vij instructed the police to start an immediate investigation and take stringent action against the culprits. Haryana Minister’s direction came amid Parliament on a number of occasions discussing the issue of Indian youth being deployed by the Russian Army in war against Ukraine. India has raised the issue with Russia for immediate release of all Indians from deployment in war against Ukraine.
