New Delhi, November 10, 2025 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday evening confirmed that multiple agencies have launched a full-scale investigation into the explosion near Red Fort that killed several people and injured others. The blast occurred around 7:00 pm near the Subhash Marg traffic signal, close to the historic monument.

In a statement to the media, Shah said, “At around 7:00 pm, there was a blast in a Hyundai i20 car near the Subhash Marg traffic signal close to Red Fort in Delhi. Some nearby vehicles and passersby were also affected. As per preliminary information, there are reports of casualties and injuries.”

The Home Minister said that within ten minutes of the incident, teams from the Delhi Police Crime Branch, Special Branch, and National Investigation Agency (NIA) reached the spot, followed soon after by personnel from the National Security Guard (NSG).

“A detailed investigation has already begun. Directions have been issued to examine all CCTV footage and other forensic evidence from the surrounding area,” Shah said, adding that he had spoken to Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and Special Branch officials, both of whom are at the site.

“We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation keeping every angle in mind. The findings will be shared transparently with the public,” Shah assured.

The Home Minister also announced that he would visit the blast site and meet the injured victims in hospital later in the evening.

The powerful explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station set several vehicles ablaze and triggered panic across the crowded Old Delhi area. The cause of the blast remains under investigation, and the area has been sealed off for forensic examination.
