Outside Parliament, Akhilesh Yadav accuses the Bharatiya Janata Party of rushing voter verification, manipulating data, and using government machinery to cut names from electoral rolls.

New Delhi, December 1, 2025 — Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday launched a stinging attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging large-scale manipulation of voter data through private IT companies and accusing the government of rushing the voter verification process to benefit the ruling party.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament of India, Yadav claimed that several companies proficient in IT work were being used to upload voter data and generate PDF files privately for the BJP, while government machinery was being deployed selectively.

“The BJP has no worries because the entire machinery is working for it. Their workers are not on the ground—our workers are meeting people directly,” Yadav said.

‘Why the Hurry on Voter Verification?’

Questioning the decision to grant only a limited extension for voter verification, Yadav asked why there was such urgency when elections were not immediately due in Uttar Pradesh or even West Bengal.

“What is the hurry? Elections are not tomorrow in UP. Even in Bengal there is time. If voters can be added till the last day, why force this rushed exercise?” he asked, accusing officials of sitting under pressure and distributing pre-uploaded forms instead of carrying out genuine field verification.

He alleged that 99.45% of forms were shown as ‘increased’ on paper, but warned that when the final collection is reviewed, the extent of deletions would become clear.

Allegations of Fake Data and Economic Link

Yadav went further, claiming that fake data was now a national pattern, alleging that even international bodies had flagged data manipulation under the present government. Linking governance to economic distress, he said the rupee was “falling continuously just like the credibility of the government.”

Claim of 20,000 Votes Already Deleted

The SP chief also cited a written complaint by party leader Rajiv Rai, alleging that around 20,000 votes had already been cut in one Assembly constituency through administrative manipulation, warning that more deletions could follow even before the summary revision is completed.

‘This Is Not Drama, This Is Democracy’

Responding sharply to suggestions that the Opposition was creating “drama”, Yadav said democratic accountability was being trivialised.

“Don’t play with words. This is not drama—this is about democracy and the right of every voter. The responsibility lies with the Election Commission of India to ensure that no eligible voter is left out,” he asserted.

Yadav also alleged that the BJP, with police support, intimidates voters by displaying firearms during elections, claiming that such incidents were part of a broader pattern of coercion aimed at suppressing turnout among Opposition supporters.
