After UPSC lateral entry ad withdrawal, Opposition says ‘ye dil mange more’

Opposition claims moral victory over lateral entry ad withdrawal

New Delhi, August 20: The Opposition is stepping up heat on Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. The Opposition is upbeat after direction was issued to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to withdraw the advertisement for lateral entry.
Union Minister for DoPT (Department of personnel and training) Jitendra Singh on Tuesday wrote to the UPSC chairperson Preeti Sudan to withdraw the advertisement for lateral entry for 45 positions in the government.

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav shared an advertisement of the agriculture department of the central government for recruitment for 368 positions. He demanded it to be withdrawn. The advertisement by the Agriculture Scientists Board called for applications for 368 positions. It said that all positions are in the unreserved category.
“After lateral entry, now the anti-Constitution and anti-reservation Modi government has abolished the reservation for Dalits, OBCs and Adivasis by publishing advertisements for posts under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education under single post and by writing that ‘All vacancies are unreserved’,” said Yadav in a post on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Yadav further charged that “now, the government is getting reservations abolished in appointments in the agriculture department through the hands of the alleged fake Prime Minister and ineffective Agriculture Minister. Will Nitish Kumar, Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi say anything against this usurpation of the rights of Dalits and backward classes”.
The Congress communication department chief, Jairam Ramesh, claimed the victory for the Constitution after the government called for withdrawal of the lateral entry advertisement by the UPSC. “You can see in the coming days the impact of our resolve to protect the Constitution. This is the victory of the Constitution,” said Ramesh.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan claimed a moral victory after the lateral entry advertisement withdrawal. Paswan said that he had raised the issue with the concerned persons and forcefully argued against the lateral entry.
The Lok Jan Shakti Party of Ram Vilas Paswan will be taking part in agitation against the sub-categorisation of reservation for the scheduled castes and tribes, as well as creamy layer introduction. However, the Supreme Court three judges had only made observations about the creamy layer.
