Goal of Reaching Each Village Still Unfulfilled, Calls for Introspection: RSS

New Delhi, March 30: Any kind of discrimination has no ‘Dharmic’ basis, said Dattatreya Hosbole, the general secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) on Sunday. Hosbole also stressed that the RSS needs an introspection for not reaching “every village and basti”.
Sharing his thoughts in an essay on the birth anniversary of RSS founder growing KB Hedgewar, Hosbole wrote: “The goal of reaching each village and Basti is still an unfulfilled task and is a matter of introspection.” He spotlighted “cultural awakening of the people” as the central role of the RSS.
Hosbole is officially the number two in the RSS. He’s the executive head of the RSS who decides programmes of Mohan Bhagwat, the chief of the organisation. Holsbole penned down his thoughts for the RSS website on 100th anniversary of the organisation on Sunday.
“In the last hundred years, Sangh, as a movement of national reconstruction, has travelled from neglect and ridicule to curiosity and acceptance. Sangh does not believe in opposing anyone and is confident that someday, anyone opposing the Sangh work will join the Sangh fold,” wrote Hosbole.
He further stated that “when the world is grappling with multiple challenges ranging from climate change to violent conflicts, Bharat’s ancient and experiential wisdom is eminently capable of providing solutions”.
“This gigantic but inevitable task is possible when every child of ‘Bharat Mata’ understands this role and contributes to building a domestic model that inspires others to emulate,” expounded Hosbole.
He emphasised, calling “let us join this resolve to present a role model before the world of a harmonious and organised Bharat, taking the entire society together under the leadership of righteous people (Sajjan Shakti)”.
The tone of Hosbole seems conciliatory to Muslims even while he didn’t name any religion in his essay. Also, the recent communal Nagpur violence erupted in close vicinity of the RSS headquarters over the issue of Aurangzeb.
“While there is a tendency to look at everything from the political prism, Sangh (RSS) is still focussing on the cultural awakening of society and creating a strong network of right-minded people and organisations,” added Hosbole.
Tracing the journey of the RSS since its foundation by Hedgewar, Hosbole articulated the idea of ‘Hindutva and ‘Rashtra’. “It was not easy to explain the idea of Hindutva and the idea of Rashtra when most of the English-educated elites were influenced by the European idea of nationalism, which was narrow, parochial and exclusivist,” added Hosbole.
It may be stated that the RSS often states that “the idea of India is not a geography but a culture”. The RSS spells out its idea of India also as “one nation, one people”. The RSS functionaries further interpret to state that “all the people within India belong to one culture of Hindutva”.
Hosbole also stated that “there is a growing acceptance and expectations of the society from the Sangh”. “These are nothing but the signs of approval for Doctor ji (Hedgewar) vision and method,” he added.
