Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the BJP’s newly appointed national office-bearers as the party announced Seva Setu Abhiyan and a month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
New Delhi, August 22, 2026 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met the Bharatiya Janata Party’s newly appointed national office-bearers at the party headquarters in New Delhi, as the BJP’s new organisational team began its first round of meetings under party president Nitin Nabin.
Modi described organisational meetings as an opportunity for “new ideas and perspectives” aimed at strengthening the party and deepening its connect with the people.
“Great interaction with fellow Party colleagues and the new organisational team,” Modi posted on X after the meeting.
The meeting came after the BJP announced its new national team and marked the first formal interaction between the Prime Minister and the newly appointed office-bearers.
Team Nabin’s First Test: All Eyes on BJP’s New Office-Bearers Meeting
BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde said the party would launch a nationwide “Seva Setu Abhiyan” to help people who have not yet benefited from government schemes introduced during Modi’s tenure.
Under the initiative, beneficiaries who have been left out of various welfare schemes will be able to approach the concerned block-level office with the required documents, complete the application process and seek enrolment in the relevant schemes.
Tawde said the initiative would be part of a broader expansion of the BJP’s annual Seva Pakhwada, traditionally organised around Modi’s birthday on September 17.
This year, the BJP plans to expand the programme into a month-long “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan”, linking it to the 25th anniversary of Modi becoming Gujarat chief minister.
Modi took oath as Gujarat chief minister on October 7, 2001. According to Tawde, October 7 this year will mark 25 years of Modi’s journey in public life since he first assumed the chief ministerial office.
The BJP plans to use the month-long campaign to highlight its themes of service, dedication and “nation first”, while strengthening its organisational and public outreach.
The newly appointed national office-bearers also adopted a resolution on Vande Mataram at their first meeting under Nabin’s chairmanship.
BJP MP Sambit Swaraj said the first resolution of the new team was dedicated to the national song and its place in India’s national consciousness.
The BJP resolution condemned the Congress Working Committee’s August 19 decision to reiterate the 1937 resolution concerning the singing of Vande Mataram at Congress programmes. The BJP objected particularly to the restriction of formal singing to the first two stanzas.
The BJP said Vande Mataram represents devotion to the motherland, the freedom struggle and India’s national consciousness, and called for the preservation of its “honour and glorious heritage”.
The resolution gives the issue a fresh political dimension as the BJP’s new organisational team begins functioning ahead of the next phase of its national and state-level political mobilisation.
The day’s meetings therefore combined two central themes for the BJP’s new organisation: strengthening grassroots delivery and outreach through service initiatives, and reinforcing its nationalist ideological messaging through Vande Mataram.
Modi’s interaction with the new office-bearers also underlined the importance of the organisation in the BJP’s political strategy, with the party seeking to translate government welfare schemes into a deeper connect with voters at the grassroots.
